Tool Holders
GISSTEC and Gühring hydraulic, shrink-fit and collet holders, angle heads and keyway cutting systems.
Home / Tool Holders

The tool holder is the link between your machine and the cutting tool. A holder with high runout or poor rigidity shortens the life of even the best end mill or drill.
Mentor Mühendislik offers German GISSTEC tool holders and Gühring clamping systems. Alongside hydraulic, shrink-fit, collet and Weldon holders, we extend what your machine can do with angle heads and keyway cutting tools.
- GISSTEC and Gühring holders
- Hydraulic, shrink-fit, collet and Weldon clamping
- Angle heads and keyway cutting systems
- SK/DIN 69871, BT and HSK interfaces
Types of Tool Holders
Hydraulic Chucks
Low runout and vibration damping for reaming, finish milling and precision drilling.
Shrink-Fit Holders
Slim and rigid for mold work and high-speed machining.
Collet Chucks
Flexible, economical clamping across a wide diameter range.
Weldon Holders
Slip-proof clamping for heavy roughing.
Angle Heads
Drill, mill and tap side faces without re-clamping the part.
Keyway Cutting Tools
Keyways, squares and hexagons on CNC lathes and machining centres.
Applications
- Long, slim tools in mold machining
- Reamed and precision-bored holes
- Heavy rough milling
- Multi-face parts in a single setup
- Keyways in gear and pulley hubs
- High-volume machining centres
Workpiece Materials
We offer suitable geometries and grades for every ISO material group.

How to Choose the Right Tool
Identify the spindle interface
SK40, BT40, HSK63 and similar connections start the holder choice.
Define the application
Precision finishing, heavy roughing or long reach? The clamping type follows.
Review extra operations
Keyways or side holes sent to another machine can often be done in one setup with an angle head.
Measure runout
Holder and tool are measured together to check the effect on tool life.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does GISSTEC cover?
GISSTEC is a German brand producing tool holders, hydraulic and shrink-fit chucks, collets, angle and multi-spindle heads, and keyway, square and hexagon cutting tools.
What does an angle head bring?
It lets you drill, mill or tap the side faces of a part without removing it, reducing setups, error risk and total machining time.
Hydraulic or shrink-fit?
If you want to change tools in seconds with a key, a hydraulic chuck is the natural choice; if you need a slim body for tight spaces and maximum clamping force, go shrink-fit. Shrink-fit does require a heating unit in the shop.
Can I cut keyways on a CNC lathe?
Yes. With suitable keyway cutting tools, keyways can be cut on a CNC lathe or machining centre without a separate shaper or broaching machine.
